Day 32

Topic: The Ministry and Miracle – The Prodigal Son (2)

Bible Reading: Luke 15 vs20-32 “And he arose and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him.

And the son said unto him, father, I have sinned against heaven and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.

But the father said to his servants, bring forth the best robes and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and shoes on his feet.

And bring him hither the fatted calf and kill it and let us eat and be merry, for this my son was dead and is alive again, he was lost and is found and they began to be merry…Vs 29 And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment and yet thou never gavest me a kid that I might make merry with my friends’…

Welcome to the 32nd day of Lent. We shall conclude our discussion on the Topic, The prodigal Son. We started this talk yesterday, looking at how a very wealthy man had to divide his inheritance into two according to the request of his younger son.

The younger son took the riches and spent all riotously. However, when everything had gone, the son realized his mistakes and decided to return to his father, saying he would tell his father to make him one of his servants, at least, his father’s servants could afford to eat good food.

Contrary to this young man’s expectations, his father saw him coming from afar off and ran to him, hugged him and kissed him.

He knelt before his father and pleaded for mercy. But his father ordered his servants to bring him the best of the clothes in the house, the best of shoes and rings and adorn him.

The father also told them to kill the best of the calf in the farm, cook, eat and make merry for his son, who was lost had been found, his son who was dead, had come back to life. What a compassionate father.

Nobody would wish his or her child to leave his/her bossom and never return. That is the kind of love parents have towards their children and so does God to us.

The young man’s elder brother got wind of the situation from the farm. He rushed home and was not happy with his father.

He told his father that he had been faithful to him all through his life and not even a kid (a baby got) had been given to him to make merry with his friends.

But his father told him not to think that way that he had always been with him and all he had belonged to him.

This is typical of God. God and the heavens in general will rejoice over anybody that comes back to God.

It doesn’t matter how bad our sins might have been. God will always welcome us home.

Today, kindly determine within your heart to return to God. Yes you have sinned a lot and you think God will not forgive.

He will always forgive and welcome you back to him. All He needs from you is that genuineness of heart and the heavens will rejoice.

Prayer for Day 32: Lord Jesus, I am sorry for all I have done. God Almighty, please forgive me of all my sins. Help me to return unto you and live my life for you. Amen.

Lenten Tip: Once you have confessed your sins, free yourself from that guilt and you will live in peace.

Spread the love
