A Nigerian-born British lawmaker Fiona Onasanya , has been jailed for three months for lying following an investigation by the police.
The expelled Labour MP who was found guilty of perverting the course of justice after a retrial in December, was texting as she was speeding on the evening on 24 July 2017. She was clocked driving at 41mph in a 30mph zone in Thorney, near Peterborough.
Nigerian-born British lawmaker who colluded with her brother to avoid the ticket, will however not be losing her job even though a recall petition could force a by-election in her constituency, if signed by 10% of her electorate. Her brother who she colluded with to avoid the ticket, was jailed for 10 months for his involvement after pleading guilty to the same charge. It was learnt that the driver of the car she named, was in Russia at the time of the offence.
